Finish 2019 with 40 days of prayer! Day 39

"A beginner must look on himself as one setting out to make a garden for his Lord's pleasure, on most unfruitful soil which abounds in weeds. His majesty roots up the weeds and will put in good plants instead. Let us reckon that this is already done when the soul decides to practice prayer and has begun to do so." - Saint Teresa of Avila

Therefore do not be anxious, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6: 31-33

Here we are. Two days before 2020. We do not know what this next year holds. What joys. What sorrows. Matthew reminds us to seek Jesus first - in all things. Paul reminds us to pray about EVERYTHING. Prayer and seeking Jesus through the Spirit & the Word - seeking His kingdom and His righteousness in our own lives - let that be our focus this year.

  • Praise God that He knows the future and He is already preparing us to walk into it with Him.

  • Pray that God would calm fears and anxieties and fill us with trust in Him.

  • Pray that the Holy Spirit would teach us through the Word of God, through prayer and through community in the coming year.

  • Pray that God would bring our hearts into alignment with His heart for our broken and fallen world, and show us specifically how to love people in His name.

  • Pray that God would continue His faithful work to grow you in His ways and in His truth.

Let's look with expectation for answers that God provides in these final days of 2019!
