Walking in Step With Jesus

Phase:  Be With Me
Timing: 2-3 years
Focus:  Leading/Serving with others in ministries

CONTINUED GROWTH
A disciple seeks to learn and grow even more in his/her own relationship to Christ.  He/she seeks to follow Christ on a deeper level, and is consistent in basic habits that help to know God better.   He/she knows what Christ has done for him/her, and because of that, desires to love Christ and serve Him wholeheartedly.

A disciple:

  • deepens his/her relationship with and knowledge of Christ.1
  • lives a life of faith and trust in Christ in all areas of life. 2
  • continues  to develop Godly inner character as well as practicing outward habits that help encourage Godly character.3
     -obeys God. 4
-is bold and persistent in prayer. 5
  • continues to live a life that is a reflection of  God.
-lives a life of service to others.
-aims to forgive & love all people, including his/her enemies. 8

LEADS / SERVES
A disciple becomes more involved in the church family in the areas of leading and serving.  He/she is concerned with helping others to grow in their relationship to Christ and desires to use his/her gifts for the benefit of the church family, as empowered by the Holy Spirit.

A disciple:

  • becomes more and more concerned that people become true disciples of Jesus Christ.9
  • is able to teach and handle God's word in a loving and correct manner.10
  • develops deeper relationships with other believers to promote the spiritual growth of all.11
  • ministers to and leads others in the church family.12
  • gives selflessly of time, talents and finances to help others grow spiritually.13
  • will demonstrate God's power in and through his/her life.14
  • is able to withstand persecution for the sake of Christ. 15
endures hardships in his/her service to the Lord.16

recognizes that his/her struggle is against spiritual forces of evil, not other people.17
  • waits expectantly for Jesus Christ's return.18

DEEPER COMMITMENT
A disciple is able to follow through on whatever commitment God may ask.  He/she becomes more Christ-like both in character and in actions. He/she is ready to teach others how to "do"  whatever ministry he/she is involved in.

A disciple:

  • lives a life in which both actions and attitudes are consistent with what God desires from His people.19
  • is ready to begin teaching others how to lead in ministry.20
