Discovering a New Way to Walk

Phase:  Come & See
Timing:  3-12 months
Focus:  Discovering God

LEARNING
A person in this discovery stage wants to learn more about God, who Jesus really is and why He is significant1.  He/she begins a very personal journey of discovery, and learns some fundamental Biblical truths about God, Jesus, and the Bible:

God, the creator of all, is all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-seeing.2
God loves all people and desires that all people be part of His family.
However, because of our sin, we are separated from God.4
The Good News is that He sent His only son, Jesus Christ, to Earth to:
- die on the cross, be buried, and rise again as a sacrifice for our sins.5
- reconcile us to God.6
- give us the gift of eternal life.7
The Bible is God's written word to man and through it we can discern  God's truth.8

COMMITMENT AND CHANGE
As God draws him/her, this person:

- makes a decision to accept Jesus' free gift of salvation  and professes Jesus as ruler
of his/her life
.9
- is baptized as a public confirmation of his/her decision to become a follower of
Jesus.
10
- receives the Holy Spirit who begins to empower him/her to live for Christ. 11

ACTION
As a new creation in Christ, the young disciple (follower of Christ) sees the need for change in his/her life because this new faith.  He/she begins to turn away from old ways and turns toward prayer, Bible learning and other disciplines that are pleasing to God.
